Anyone, of any nationality, may register a boat to fly the Slovenian flag under Slovenian legislation. For non-EU citizens, the boat must be owned through a company registered in the EU that is based in one of its member states.

EU citizens are allowed to own the boat directly as an individual by holding it in their personal name. As opposed to this, non-EU citizens must create a company in an EU member state that will ultimately own the yacht.

That’s correct, the registration is issued in a paper format.

Registration for recreational boats is valid for five years, whereas the registration for commercial boats in valid for two years.

Documents are accepted in Slovenian language. If any paperwork is not in Slovenian, they will need to be translated by a qualified translator and notarized. (We'll handle the official translation.)

A boat survey is not required if the vessel is under 24 metres. If the boat is longer than 24 metres, nevertheless, a technical survey that can be done anywhere in the world should be necessary.

If the yacht is older than 1998, a technical inspection and survey should be necessary.
